was wondering if anyone can tell me what i need to salvage to get a lump of coal.

A fair amount of wood planks and some gold or something. I've only see one person that does it for you and I can't remember where it is.

otherwise it is a RARE DROP from Stone Elementals/Golem monsters

There is a materials crafter right outside Fort Ranik that will do it. You need 10 wood planks for 1 charcoal. I forget how much gold it costs, maybe 200?
